8 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 24)

4. 37 Is Practically Ancient(?)

This was a tough item to mark as a negative because it’s been a great defining trait of Brian Kendrick since his return to WWE. But it’s hard to shake a very simple fact: 37 is not that old.

For a frame of reference, Dolph Ziggler is 36. John Cena and Brock Lesnar are 39. Chris Jericho is 45. And Kane is 49. So it’s a little tough to hear Kendrick talking about how this is his last chance due to his advanced age, even in the hyper-athletic Cruiserweight division. It just doesn’t add up. It might have been better to touch on the age and play up more that he burned his bridges before and could be gone again if he doesn’t win quickly. (And given the results of Kendrick’s match, that might have worked really well.)

However, Kendrick’s desperation – even going so far as to ask Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins to lay down for him at Hell in a Cell – is palpable, so you can’t entirely count his math against him.
