8 Ways NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn Will Overshadow WWE SummerSlam

6. A Divas Match Which Actually Matters

Talking of Divas, there's a very big difference between the women's matches taking place at NXT TakeOver and SummerSlam. While the Divas Revolution on Raw has significantly improved the Divas Division, there's no story there other than the three teams - Team Bella, Team B.A.D., and Team PCB - seemingly fighting for the sake of fighting. What's the end goal? Will a member of the winning team receive a title shot? If one of the latter two teams emerge victorious, how does that affect Team Bella? They've lost plenty of times over the past few weeks, but still have the title and still remain "on top" of the Divas Division. If the WWE wants fans to start taking these women seriously, they need to give them characters and motivations which audiences can root for. Putting on good matches is one thing, but those mean nothing if the people watching aren't invested in them. Don't get me wrong, there's a very strong chance that the match between the three teams will be great, but it won't illicit the same response as Bayley taking on Sasha Banks. The fact that Sasha hasn't been flaunting her Women's Championship on Raw and is now a permanent part of the main roster is a good indication that she's going to drop the belt at NXT TakeOver. Now feels like the right time for Bayley to become champion and redefine the NXT Divas Division, and fans have been invested in her story for a long time. Bayley finally getting her hands on that title is going to a big and very emotional moment for her and NXT viewers, and all that aside, the fact that the belt is on the line instantly gives this Divas match more important stakes than the one taking place at SummerSlam!
