3. Outlift The World's Strongest Man
The moments when WWE is at its most engaging are when kayfabe and reality mix in fun and unusual ways. A great example of this is how WWE creative have constantly billed Mark Henry as the Worlds Strongest Man. Despite achieving his accomplishments in weightlifting, powerlifting and the Olympics in the mid-nineties, Henry has become synonymous with the intimidating title of World Strongest Man and it seems as if that title will never cease to hold water within the WWE universe. For Henry then, his best programs are when this title is proven to actually mean something or, in the best cases, when Sexual Chocolate is called out by a challenger and is forced to put yet another worker in his Hall Of Pain. No greater example of this came during the run up to Wrestlemania 29 where Henry was called up by Ryback to defend his coveted title of Worlds Strongest. In order to prove himself, the Big Guy propositioned Henry in the form of a bench press competition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccJvMQG9zWg In true WWE fashion, Henry stuck to his heel persona and choked Ryback out before he could be beaten and, with a victory at Wrestlemania, proved that the Big Guy didnt have what it took to take Henrys place on the mantle. As of now, Henry has been subjugated to the role of victim so maybe soon someone like Rusev will strip the Worlds Strongest Man of his claim to fame but, as it stands, Mark Henry has an identity that keeps him mythologised and relevant enough to keep ploughing his trade within the squared circle.
