8 Ways WWE SummerSlam 2017 Can Outdo WrestleMania 33

4. AJ Styles Versus An Actual Wrestler

AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon was a lot better than it had any right to be. While the sight of Shane - a 47-year-old man wrestling only his second singles match in eight years - controlling one of the best wrestlers in the world with strikes and submissions was absurd, he and Styles were nonetheless able to produce a fun stunt show in the night's opener.

That being said, it was still a big misuse of AJ's talents. He had a good match with Shane, but could've had an excellent one had he been paired up with a more competent opponent rather than the boss' son. Fortunately, he'll have that opportunity at SummerSlam, when he defends the WWE United States Championship against Kevin Owens.

Their Battleground and Backlash matches weren't perfect, but provided WWE don't derail this one with another murky finish (which may happen with Shane as referee), there's no reason to believe it won't be good. Regardless, it's a much more effective way to utilise Styles. He's been the company's most exciting wrestler since he arrived in January 2016, and deserves the opportunity to do what he does best on the company's biggest stages.
