8 Ways WWE's Booking For Survivor Series Has Made No Sense

4. The Consequences Give Away The Result

For the first few weeks of the build, the stipulation for the match was that if Team Authority loses, then Triple H and Stephanie are removed from power completely. If Team Cena loses? Nothing. No consequences whatsoever. Fans groaned about the lopsided stakes and complained that there needed to be something on the line if John and his hustling, loyal, respectful pals came up short at Survivor Series. So what does WWE do? They raise the stakes to an absurd degree and reveal that every single member of Team Cena will be fired if they lose. Never mind the fact that the roster--especially as far as top stars as concerned€”is quite possibly the thinnest it€™s ever been, and the thought of kayfabe firing five of your most important(ish) talents is ridiculous. That€™s telegraphing the ending in a major way. Now we all fully expect the latest edition of #LOLCENAWINS. The positive thing about that being that WWE has a chance to make some new stars while ridding themselves of the crutch that has become the severely worn out evil authority figure trope. A better solution would have been to force Cena to forfeit his title shot against Lesnar, and the rest of his team not be allowed any championship matches over an established time period. That way you have serious consequences for both sides yet still create some doubt about the outcome.
