8 Wrestlers Triple H Can’t Get Over In WWE

1. Johnny Gargano

During the early days of Levesque’s reign, a mere one month after Vince left the company in disgrace and when fans felt unanimously positive about the future, Johnny Gargano’s August 2022 return felt significant. Gargano told superb stories for Triple H in NXT. His rivalry with Tomasso Ciampa was sensational, and winning the black and gold brand’s top title in a war with Adam Cole is one of the best moments in NXT history.

Returning with his Rebel Heart theme to a hero’s pop from the crowd, Gargano's comeback should have heralded as an “actual” new era for 'Johnny Wrestling'. Ciampa and Gargano’s rivalry/friendship could have enjoyed the same level of fan investment as Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, but it wasn’t to be.

Tomasso Ciampa has now left for AEW, with a killer new theme music and a bright future ahead of him, whilst Gargano’s latest gimmick is lying on his front, depressed and mute for the world to see.

It’s amusing, but it’s not quite where a man of his talent should find himself in the world’s biggest wrestling promotion. However, Ciampa is seen regularly baiting his old partner on his social media platforms, so the smart money is on Johnny's future lying with his former partner over in All Elite.
