8 Wrestlers Who Could Be Chris Jericho's Teased Secret Mystery Opponent

7. Davey Richards

Davey Richards
Impact Wrestling

Davey Richards is not interested in pursuing a career as a television wrestler.

He thinks the theatre is bullsh*t, and that wrestling shouldn't be "about" entertainment. It should be so great as the purest, most intense and macho version of itself that your entertainment is a byproduct of that.

All of which makes him an ideal opponent for sports ennerdainer Chris Jericho, provided it's on a one-off basis, and Richards himself tweeted that he wants the match.

It would be cracking; Richards, a former ROH World and World Tag champion, can still go, having tore up the completionist fringes of the indy circuit when making a comeback in 2021 following a four-year hiatus. Of course, with Richards comes a certain stigma. He's not fond of jobbing or even showing up, so the story goes, and while there's precedent there, since returning he's lost to people nobody has ever heard of. Perhaps he has reformed. This might persuade Khan to take the risk, but is he truly worth the silhouette gimmick and its promise of something major?

He was no longer a major name when the indie boom exploded. Much of the AEW base might not know who he is, despite being knowledgeable about the wider wrestling scene of the mid-2010s.

Also, despite being hugely acclaimed in his day, he squandered much of that with his excessive ring style by the end of his prime years.

Probability: 25%
