8 Wrestlers Who Have VANISHED From AEW (... And WHY!)
5. Keith Lee
It feels like an age ago that the whole world was talking about Keith Lee. Charismatic and with a fun and accomplished in-ring style, Lee was rightly being touted as a future world champion in WWE.
His stellar work in NXT saw him become the first man to hold both the NXT and NXT North American titles before he became another victim of Vince McMahon on WWE's main roster. After he suffered a gimmick change to Keith 'Bearcat' Lee, he was eventually granted his release in November 2021. His shock debut on the February 9th, 2022 episode of Dynamite felt like a massive coup for Tony Khan, and he and Swerve Strickland had an excellent run with the AEW tag team titles as Swerve In Our Glory.
While Swerve has gone on to be one of the biggest names in AEW, Lee has been missing from our screens since defeating Brian Cage on the December 23rd, 2023 episode of Collision. Lee has occasionally provided updates on his health, insisting that he paid his own medical bills and is cleared to compete. The most telling sign from Lee that all is not well between himself and AEW came on June 26th last year, when he tweeted that he is fine but "it is not up to (him) when it comes to a return". Having been away from wrestling for over 2 years at this point, it is anybody's guess as to when (or if) we see Keith again.
