8 Wrestlers Who Should Compete In A NXT Title Tournament

3. Velveteen Dream

Call him up, Vince, but please wait until he's had a chance to soar as NXT North American Champ and work the tournament.

Earlier, it was said that Velveteen Dream is heading for a showdown with Matt Riddle at TakeOver: New York, but that both could feasibly still enter the NXT Title tourney to further their burgeoning feud there. Hopefully, that's the case, and hopefully WWE seize the chance to tease that Dream could make brand history.

His main objective would be winning the whole thing and thus becoming the first ever dual NXT and North American Champion in the company. That sounds huge, and it'd speak to Velveteen's star-soaked aura. He'd crave the opportunity to become a history maker.

Temptation will be there to have him go all the way. Note to WWE: don't do it. TakeOver specials deserve both World Title and secondary belt matches on the same card, and that's why Dream should just come up short in his bid to become a legend.
