8 Wrestling Champions That Left For The Other Side
3. Chris Benoit As WCW Champion To WWE
Chris Benoit spent about five years in WCW and he won their World Heavyweight Title on his last day in the company. The reason it was his last day is because he quit the company the next day along with his buddies Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero & Saturn. There was a talent meeting where management asked people if they wanted to quit. Those four took management up on their offer and off they went. It would have been a big deal to have Benoit and friends debut on WWE TV right away, but they waited a few weeks before showing up. Once he debuted in WWE, they didn't acknowledge his reign as the WCW World Champion. They just assumed that everybody knew who these guys were since they were long time WCW employees. Most fans did know who they were, so they got big reactions immediately upon their arrival in WWE. The move was a smart one for Benoit. He didn't like the political games in WCW and WWE was surging ahead of them, so as soon as he got a chance he jumped ship. The timing of it was pretty crazy, though. He spent all those years trying to reach the top of WCW, then he finally got there and the next day he was gone. That's how crazy the wrestling business was especially during that time period.
