8 Wrestling Gimmicks Based On Serial Killers

5. Kane (Michael Myers)

Jim Cornette is the man to thank for Kane's quite brilliant aura, because the former WWE creative mind envisioned The Undertaker's brother as the "embodiment of evil". Speaking with Inside The Ropes several years ago, a hyped-up Cornette clearly enjoyed describing his initial concept for the Kane character as one without remorse or emotion.

Admitting that he took inspiration from the Halloween series of films, the legendary manager outright said that Kane was supposed to be like a wrestling version of Michael Myers. Expressionless behind his mask, Kane's stony look and blank stare made the character feel entirely inhuman.

In Halloween, the sheer lack of empathy or connection to the person behind the mask is crucial to the success of Myers as a character. Cornette imagined that same emptiness for Kane, as if Undertaker's brother had been stripped off any and all feeling.

The whole idea worked a treat, and there was nobody quite like Kane on the WWF landscape (not even 'Taker himself, who had been humanised somewhat by 1997). Fast-forward almost 20 years and the guise is still prevalent on WWE programming, proving Cornette's vision as excellent.
