8 Wrestling Moments EVERYONE Remembers Wrong
6. Goldberg Retires Bret Hart
The never-ending feud between Bret Hart and Goldberg is so entrenched in wrestling's tapestry that it has become a meme in its own right. After a glittering in-ring career that is still revered by wrestlers of the past and present to this very day, Hart received a mistimed kick to his skull from Goldberg that gave 'The Hitman' a concussion that cut short the career of one of wrestling's most iconic superstars.
Whether you think that Bret Hart's righteous anger is perfectly reasonable, or that his ceaseless grudge should have been put out to pasture by now, the kick that 'The Hitman' received at Starrcade 1999 is the reason that Bret and the rest of the world were robbed of several more years of in-ring brilliance from 'The Excellence Of Execution'. What has been lost in the annals of time, however, is that Bret's victory over Goldberg for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Starrcade wasn't actually his last match for WCW.
In fact, Hart would even have a rematch with Goldberg the very next night on Nitro, in which he successfully beat 'Da Man' again for the WCW World Heavyweight Title. Following this, the Canadian would go on to have a further eight matches in WCW, competing against the likes of Chris Benoit, Terry Funk, and Ric Flair, before his final match for the company took place on the January 10th, 2000 episode of Nitro against Kevin Nash.
