8 Wrestling Moments EVERYONE Remembers Wrong
3. Mankind Was Thrown From The Top Of Hell In A Cell At The End Of The Match
Mick Foley being thrown off the top of the Hell In A Cell cage is in many ways bigger than wrestling itself. A moment so famous that all of your friends who don't watch wrestling know exactly what you're talking about when you reference it, Mankind's giant fall at the hands of The Undertaker is a viral moment before going viral was even a twinkle in the internet's eye.
What is all too often forgotten is that this moment came in the opening minutes of the match. Because he is an absolute maniac, Foley began the match on top of the cage, throwing a steel chair onto the roof of Hell In A Cell for good measure. Not to be deterred, The Undertaker was all too happy to oblige Mankind and head to the top of the cage.
Following an exchange of right hands and Mick planting 'Taker with a chair shot, 'The Deadman' avoids a suplex attempt before launching Foley from the top of the cage, hurtling 22-feet and through the announcer's desk at ringside. Mick eventually heads back to the top of the cage to receive a chokeslam that puts him through the cell, plunging again from this great height and onto the ring canvas below. Unbelievably, another eight minutes of action followed this before 'Taker hit the Tombstone for his pinfall victory.
