8 Wrestling Society X Wrestlers Who Went On To Bigger Things
2. Matt Sydal
Before debuting as Evan Bourne in WWE's ill-conceived -- er, I mean, revamped -- version of ECW, wrestling fans were introduced to the high-flying Matt Sydal -- and his girlfriend, Lizzy Valentine -- in WSX. (Wrestling fans who hadn't already seen him in Ring of Honor or Dragon Gate, that is.)
Already an impressive athlete, Sydal was an early standout for the upstart promotion, losing an impressive opening bout on the very first episode to a young Jack Evans. A feud between Sydal and 6-PAC over Sydal's valet Lizzy was teased, but never culminated in a match before the show's cancellation.
Of course, Sydal would journey north a year later and put Billy Kidman's shooting star press to shame every time he took to the air. A tag team championship run with Kofi Kingston and several highlight reel moments -- including the amazing SSP-into-an-RKO spot with Randy Orton -- followed, before two violations of the Wellness Policy and an extended period on the shelf after a car accident brought his WWE career to an underwhelming close.
Sydal remains an in-demand name on the indies, and has made recent appearances for Impact Wrestling (now Global Force Wrestling) and New Japan.
Lizzy Valentine, on the other hand, has gone on to do... not a whole lot.
