8 WWE Booking Steps For Sami Zayn's Heel Run

2. Redemption

This should be huge.

It shouldn't be buried on the midcard, nor should it be restricted to 12-15 minutes. WWE must draw on everything the duo have been through together over the past few years, with a strong emphasis on recent events, and turn them loose in one of the night's biggest spotlight.

A gimmick would be preferable, but not essential. Zayn and Owens had a tremendous one-on-one at Battleground 2016, and would now have even more reason to beat the living daylights out of each other, so they'd likely excel regardless of the stipulation.

Zayn's redemption must be the story here. He'd take responsibility for his actions in the build-up, but it should also be stressed that he was under KO's influence throughout. This adds sympathy to his quest for atonement, as well as making his recent face turn entirely more believable, though few fans would have difficulty rooting for Sami either way.

These two are incapable of having a bad bout together, and there's no reason to believe this wouldn't be a Match of the Year contender. Sami will take the victory to close the book on his dalliances with heel-dom, secure his redemption, and finally move on from Kevin Owens.
