8 WWE Careers Cut Short By Injury

2. Droz

Darren Drozdov, a former professional NFL football player, was set to become one of the most promising young stars of the Attitude Era. Blessed with a distinctive, grungy look, fitting in perfectly with the WWF's visual direction at the time, he could have been a true star of the business. Unfortunately, his career came to a tragically abrupt end during a 1999 taping of Smackdown. In a match with D'Lo Brown, Droz was dropped on his head and rendered a quadriplegic (although he has now regained movement in his neck and arms). Both men absolved one another of blame, claiming that it was merely a freak accident; Droz went on record claiming that Brown was unable to gain a proper grip due to his own baggy ring attire, an unavoidable mistake. Sadly, Droz is likely to be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life, and saw an immensely promising career snuffed out due to the perils of the wrestling industry.
