8 WWE Champions Who Revived A Dying Title
4. The New Day - Tag Team Championship
Nicknamed 'The Bronze Pennies', WWE's Tag Team Championship belts were hardly sought after titles when The New Day took hold of the straps in August 2015. Previously held by Darren Young and Titus O'Neil, the highest accolade in tag team wrestling seemed more meaningless than it had in years, and was a far cry from the title once held by Legion of Doom and The British Bulldogs.
Nevertheless, The New Day's entire gimmick is the result of the talent making something out of nothing; as such, the team of Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods transmogrified bronze into gold throughout their second reign. Lasting a colossal 483 days as champs, New Day once again made the Tag Team Championship a talking point in WWE.
While Team Hell No and The Shield had both attempted to restore prestige to the tag straps in 2012 and 2013, the belts never seemed more than props for stars biding their time before pursuing singles gold. Around the waists of The New Day, their patented brand of positivity bled over into the titles themselves, and made the belts seem like a championship worth holding.
Their record-breaking run made for hugely entertaining TV, proving that New Day rocks and, by proxy, so do the Tag Team Titles.
