8 WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 Impulse Reactions

6. Roman Reigns (c) Vs. Daniel Bryan

It takes talent to have a hot 1:35 match in front of no crowd with a result that was never in doubt, but Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns managed it when the Universal Champion arrived to scrape up the remains of the Elimination Chamber winner.

When Bryan countered an immediate Spear attempt into a Yes Lock, 'The Tribal Chief' offered just long enough to imagine the impossible before he cooly broke the hold and submitted the exhausted Challenger via pass-out.

This was all pretty electrifying in its own right - not least because the two have smartly been kept separate since 'The Big Dog' turned heel last August - but WWE kept the excitement up by sending in the 'Ultimate Opportunist' to hit the current one with a Spear of his own.

Edge pointing at the WrestleMania sign and triggering pyro was a little daft, not least when the message was loud and clear for weeks anyway. It was also quite odd that WWE spent the better part of an hour presenting three or four more appealing opponents only to deliver the inevitable. Edge Vs Reigns is at least brand new use of the 'Rated-R Superstar'. It's on the wrestlers and WWE to make the most of a crowd for the first time since the Edge's emotional Royal Rumble 2020 return.
