8 WWE Matches That Should Have Meant Way More

4. CM Punk vs. The Rock (Royal Rumble 2013)

The Rock CM Punk Royal Rumble 2013

Despite his obvious issues with WWE, it's not impossible that CM Punk will someday return to the company and fulfil his dream of headlining WrestleMania. Back in 2013, it seemed like Punk's time would come. As the longest reigning WWE Champ of his generation, he had finally made it to the summit. Then, he was knocked off.

WWE decided that The Rock vs. John Cena at 'Mania 29 badly needed the WWE Title to make it grander than the poorly-titled 'Once In A Lifetime' match one year prior. For Punk, it must have been disheartening to realise his employers wanted another Rock vs. Cena match in the headline slot, even more so when he was told the title would be switching at Royal Rumble.

The Rock vs. CM Punk would have been fine for WrestleMania itself. That's the frustrating thing; WWE could easily have placed Punk in Cena's place without complaint. Who really wanted another battle between Rock and Cena anyway? That had already been seen.
