8 WWE Monsters Who Had Their Push Killed By John Cena
6. Big Show
Big Show has made a career out of putting Cena over.
The World's Largest Athlete lost the U.S. Championship to the 'Doctor Of Thuganomics' at WrestleMania XX, which was undoubtedly the right move as it solidified this young performer as a big-time player. However, this was not the case when the pair again crossed paths on the 'Grandest Stage Of Them All' in 2008.
Show was embroiled in a personal feud with World Champion Edge over their relationships with Vickie Guerrero. Instead of this becoming the deep-rooted personal rivalry that it should have been, Cena was randomly added to the equation and at WrestleMania 25, he defeated both men to win the title (because... Cena). The following month, Big Show turned violent and Chokeslammed him through a spotlight, but the giant's dominant flurry wouldn't last as Cena would end up defeating him at Extreme Rules.
The issue with Cena's constant defeats of Big Show was always the same. It was never about the losses, it was about the story that Cena told in the ring - or lack of one to be exact. No matter how large or physically imposing 'The World's Largest Athlete' was, Cena was always booked to look stronger.
With his constant no-selling of Show's moves (something that he is actually somewhat to blame for) and long-drawn out impressive shows of strength, 'Big Match John' was nothing short of invincible - destroying Big Show's aura each time they stepped in the ring.
With that in mind, nobody ever bought Show as a believable threat when they collided again in 2012, so we all just had to watch as the same old inevitable booking unfolded before our eyes.
