8 WWE Returns That Were Much Better Than Expected
5. Mr. Perfect
As WCW dwindled into dust, so too did the once fine career of Curt Hennig. As Mr Perfect, Hennig had been one of WWE's most reliable hands during the early '90s, but riddled with back injuries, he opted for the easy life in Atlanta where lifting a finger was an optional part of the job description.
As the company entered tailspin, Hennig left WCW behind in the summer of 2000 - and with it, money for basically nothing. He briefly became a star of the ambitious XWF promotion, but when that inevitably hit the can, he was left in limbo.
Wrestling fans thought they'd seen the last of Hennig in the big leagues, but come entry 25 of Royal Rumble 2002, whose music should surprisingly hit but none other than Mr Perfect's? Curt, effectively auditioning, rolled back the years as he made it to the final three, putting in a performance so impressive that he earned himself a brand new contract. Sadly, the infamous 'plane ride from hell' incident a few months later left his career up in the air once more.
