8 WWE Royal Rumble 2020 Impulse Reactions

1. The Men's Royal Rumble

A Royal Rumble of two halves saw Brock Lesnar equal records for Royal Rumble domination, Roman Reigns get back on to the Road To WrestleMania after two years away from the main event and a huge rumour made real as Edge made a relatively triumphant return to in-ring competition.

It's hard to look past the pop and performance of 'The Rated-R Superstar' here - Edge looked amazing as he peeled off with several brand new superstars and reunited with former partner Randy Orton, but the excitement of the latter stages almost erased a brave and brilliant first half.

Lesnar's destructive display in the early going was pointed and purposeful. A lot of favourites had to fall, but this was an exercise in patience rather than WWE's typical trolling. Ricochet's low blow was a fantastic receipt after he suffered the same fate on the go-home edition of Monday Night Raw, as was Drew McIntyre's star-making elimination of 'The Beast' with a climactic Claymore.

With a host of short stories and long, sustained pops, this could well go down as one of the best Rumble matches ever, not least if Drew's momentum carries all the way through to WrestleMania.
