Playing a stereotypical Irish dancer on NXT sucked, but so did playing sidekick to Charlotte Flair for month after month on SmackDown. That has actually happened twice to Becky Lynch during her main roster run; in 2015, she was the third wheel in Team PCB. Then, in 2017-2018, she had to be content with being Flair's smiley buddy.

To hell with that crap. Now, Becky is 'The Man'.

She's told during several interviews how a conversation with Shawn Michaels whilst filming scenes for The Marine 6 changed her entire career. HBK, looking to give the likeable Lynch some help, suggested she carry herself like a top star when she returned to WWE post-break. Becky took that advice and she hasn't held back.

'The Man' is Becky's vision for what a top draw should act like, and it's wildly popular with fans. She badly needed something like it too. Without newfound spunk and a social media persona so brutal it drips coolness, Lynch would have continued to tread water as a happy, cheery 'Lass Kicker' who didn't do nearly enough to back that nickname up.
