8 WWE Stars Who Will Never Be World Champion
4. Kofi Kingston
Kofi's chance to break through wrestling's glass ceiling came and went at the end of 2009, when he was briefly embroiled in a career-defining feud with Randy Orton, which threatened to propel him into the main event just a year after he first appeared on our screens.
In the end, he never quite made it beyond the status of plucky underdog, and faced a tumble back down the WWE pecking order thereafter.
In some ways, the 35-year-old is now a victim of his own tag team success. The New Day have reached such heights that it would be unwise to contemplate a break up until the audience grows tired of them.
That means Kofi probably faces being stuck as part of a stable - instead of rising up he singles ranks - for the foreseeable future.
