8 WWE WrestleMania Main Events With Terrible Builds

1. Hulk Hogan Vs. Yokozuna (WrestleMania IX)

You really can't have a worse build for a PPV match, let alone a WrestleMania main event, than the challenger randomly coming out after the scheduled match and having an impromptu bout with the new champion.

Long before the implementation of the Money in the Bank contract, WWE decided to test this concept for WrestleMania IX. However, instead of having a legitimate reason to challenge Yokozuna, the new champion, Hulk just came out and yelled at him and Mr. Fuji about how they cheated Bret Hart to win. So, ever the intelligent manager, Mr. Fuji challenged Hulk to take on his clearly gassed charged for an impromptu match.

Hulkster agreed, and in 20 seconds, Hulk Hogan pinned Yokozuna to become WWE Champion for a fourth time before Bret Hart even got back to the Gorilla position. It is without exaggeration one of the most baffling main events in history, and a clear-cut sign of backstage skullduggery and politicking.

It was difficult deciding if this should even be considered a main event, but you know what? A bell rang, a decision was made, and a title changed hands.

It was a match, and it was the worst built final match in WrestleMania history.
