9 Best WCW Luchadores

2. Eddie Guerrero

Eddie Guerrero, son of the legendary Gory Guerrero, made his was to WCW in late 1995 on the recommendation of employer New Japan Pro Wrestling. He was joined by fellow New Japan buddies Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit. The three talented but undersized workers would make quite the impact over the next five four-and-a-bit years.

Latino Heat had some fine matches in 95 and 96 but his fiery babyface character was undoubtedly bland. It was only when he turned heel (or 'rudo' to use lucha parlance) in 1997 that things all started to fall into place. He was wrestling some of the best matches on the card and now he had an attitude and a purpose to go with it.

An undoubted highpoint for Eddie had to have been the breathtaking Mask versus Title match he had with Rey Mysterio Jr. at Halloween Havoc '97. One of the finest professional wrestling matches of the nineties, it saw the two men at the very top of their game offering some smooth-as-silk exchanges and never before seen moves and sequences. It was simply sublime.

His feud with nephew Chavo was good and his formation of the Latino World Order stable could have been something special, had the whole nWo thing not have been so played-out by then. A serious car crash put him out for half of 1999 and when he returned he wasn't given much to do apart from team with Rey and Billy Kidman as a member of the Filthy Animals. Their matches against the Insane Clown Posse weren't exactly classics.

Eddie eventually left WCW, fed up with the politics and constantly being held back. He'd have quite the career in WWE which peaked with him winning the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar at No Way Out 2004. Still, as frustrated as he was during his days in WCW, he was still one of the company's top talents and could always be counted on to deliver a sparkling match.
