9 Guilty Pleasures That Wrestling Fans Secretly Love

7. Collecting Garbage

If you€™ve read anything else that I have written you might know that I have a fascination with wrestling merchandise. There is nothing else in the world quite like it. Most of it is tacky, useless, plastic tat, which serves no purpose other than reminding the owner that indeed, they do enjoy wrestling. Yet as wrestling fans we inexplicably love and spend millions of dollars every year buying it up for no better reason than €˜I love the Undertaker€™. The other day I literally bought a $2.00 VCR from TradeMe (the New Zealand equivalent of eBay) and then I bought a bunch of ex-rental video tapes from the same site. These tapes are of In Your House PPVs from the mid 1990s €“ PPV€™s that are not only not very good, but are also available in their entirety on the WWE network. Why did I buy them you ask? I am not entirely sure. But much like my John Cena foam finger, my WWE DVDs, my wrestling books, my Undertaker remote control car, and the various other pieces of useless paraphernalia I have lying around at home, it seemed like a purchase that I could not possibly live without. I also once spent forty dollars on an old WCW magazine because of its nostalgic value. We are the only ones that see the awful merchandise and products that WWE consistently puts out as anything other than woeful. And not only do we see these pieces of coal as diamonds, but we actively enjoy buying this crap and putting it in our homes. I€™m not judging by any means €“ as we write I have tabs open trying to find an nWo t-shirt that I like. It€™s just that there are very few fan groups that collect worthless memorabilia quite like us. Although Star Wars fans and Star Trek fans are obviously excluded from that statement.
