9 Most Unremarkable WWE Tag Teams Of The Past Decade
3. Hype Bros. (2016)
Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley have consistently gotten the shaft by WWE. Whether that's their own fault or there's something more going on behind the scenes is unclear. What is clear, is that their days as part of the Hype Bros. were rather uneventful.
The team started when Ryder was sent back to NXT as a way to rejuvenate his own WWE career. While there, the company figured he could help elevate a rookie in training — Mojo was floundering in NXT with a character that was supposed to be "hyped" 24/7. Instead of changing Rawley's persona, NXT doubled-down and put Ryder with him. What wasn't really working for one guy seemed to somehow work better as a team and the Hype Bros. found some quick success. With Ryder's in as a former main roster guy, the team got promoted up to WWE rather quickly. It didn't translate to much more than a short push that fizzled quickly.
For more than a year, they appeared in both singles and tag matches, making it hard to tell what the status of the team was. Finally, WWE tried to tease the idea of split and Rawley turned heel. Even then, WWE all but dropped the storyline for something better, leaving things completely unresolved. That the company couldn't even turn this failed team into a push for one member was just sad.
