9 Next WWE Steps For Randy Orton

2. Another Heel Turn

By this point, Orton may well be running out of credible opponents on the heel side of things, such is the thinness of the SmackDown roster in light of this year’s brand split.

Furthermore, it’s often been said that much of Orton’s best work has come when he’s been working as a villain. He’s even said himself that he prefers portraying a heel as “it's more fun being hated and being a babyface is too easy”.

So to cut to the chase, don’t be surprised to see him once again venture to the dark side and enjoy another run as a bad guy; a run that could well yield another stint as world champion. Not an Authority-flanked, snivelling world champion though—I’m thinking more of an Apex Predator, punt-anything-that-moves world champion.

That being said, and to reiterate the earlier point about SmackDown’s lack of depth, there don’t seem to be too many more options in terms of rivals for a heel-turned Orton. In that case, as well as a likely heel turn down the line, Orton could be in prime position to be re-assigned to Monday Night Raw once the Draft rolls around next year.
