9 Next WWE Steps For Randy Orton
1. Potentially Winding Down?
Looking ahead to the much longer-term future, and as much as we may prefer to deny it, Orton may soon have one eye on winding down his in-ring wrestling career.
In an interview from back in 2009, Orton spoke of how he didn’t want to be in a position where he needs to perform “when I'm 60 or 50 or even in my mid-40s” and that “there will be a time when I'm a dad of two or three and I just want to be at home with my family”.
Well, with Orton approaching his late-30s, if he doesn’t want to be performing in his mid-40s then he’s probably going to have to start thinking about winding things down fairly shortly. Plus, with a second child currently on the way, that 2009 prophecy is getting ever-closer to becoming a reality.
Granted he could still have a few years left in the tank, plus his priorities might have changed in the intervening seven years. But with John Cena, a fellow member of that star-studded class of 2002, already venturing into part-time territory, it’s starting to look like a very real possibility that Orton could soon be heading the same way.
A rather undesirable possibility, but a possibility all the same.
