9 Old-Timers That Won Wrestling Gold (And Shouldn't Have)

4. Vince McMahon (ECW World Heavyweight Championship, 61)

Vince McMahon has a long and storied history of ridiculing his rivals' superstars, even after they've come onboard his ship. Whether it was Ric Flair in the early 90s, the Road Warriors in the late 90s, or the entire WCW roster after it was bought out in 2001, Vince had no qualms dumping all over anyone who dared go up against him in the ratings at one point or another.

So in that context, it's no surprise that a 61-year-old "do-ragged" Vince would disrespect the ECW Championship by taking it away from Bobby Lashley at Backlash 2007, thereby desecrating its lineage and turning it into a joke.

Literally everything was wrong with this title exchange and the events that led to it. First, Lashley should have never won the belt in the first place. He didn't fit the ECW mold in the slightest. Vince engaging in a feud for the ECW belt made sense, but only if he lost, which would have kickstarted a better ECW vs. WWE storyline than the one we originally got. And meanwhile, the WWE Champion was The Great Khali. Nothing about this time period was good.

Vince held the title for an entire month before finally dropping it back to Lashley. The damage had been done, the ECW brand was all but buried, and Vince was probably a very happy man.
