9 Reasons Nikki Bella Outlasting AJ Lee's WWE Diva Title Reign Was Best For Business

6. AJ Lee Was Massively Overrated

Not to take away anything from what she accomplished during her time in WWE, but AJ Lee is heralded by many as if she was the Shawn Michaels of women€™s wrestling and that simply isn€™t the case. She was a serviceable performer who often had acceptable matches that sometimes ventured into €œgood€ territory when paired with the right opponent, such as Kaitlyn. But to act like she was some revolutionary transcendent talent is ludicrous. Much of the reason she€™s lauded so heavily is because she always felt like one of €œus€, a rabid wrestling fan that lived her dream and climbed to the top of the mountain. Being ridiculed for getting the tattoo of her championship reign only solidified that in the fans€™ eyes. She was treated like a blue collar woman of the people, much like Daniel Bryan and her husband, CM Punk. But underneath all that nerd-chic approachability was an above-average talent that gets placed on a pedestal undeservedly, and with the way she departed the company, leaving behind the bad feelings shared by her spouse, it just makes sense not to have her name in the history books as the longest reigning champ.
