1. To Sell Magazines

Roman Reigns is the Big Dog oh yes he is

Let’s be honest here for a moment. If Finn Balor had topped PWI’s 500, we’d probably collectively say “That’s nice” and then move about our day. But Roman Reigns on there? "How could they? This I gotta read!"

After all, part of PWI’s ranking system is a work. I mean, how did Space Monkey land in 500th place last year? Because he went on a huge winning streak? So the magazine putting Roman at the top could be just that, a work. It gets people riled up, and gets them to buy the magazine to see what their justification for it is.

It’s kind of smart, actually. It’s not so outlandish that you can’t conceive of him winning, but it still doesn’t feel right. We want to know more.

Hey, if Miz can top their list in 2011, then Roman can do it in 2016, and Space Monkey can be the No. 1 wrestler in the world in 2017 if it will help their business.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
