9 Things That Must Happen At NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia
3. The Queens Of Spades Takes Over
The NXT women’s division is still in a transitional phase following Asuka’s move the main roster. That transition hasn’t been helped by an injury to Kairi Sane, but the woman she beat in the Mae Young Classic final has proven a fine addition so far. Shayna Baszler has brought an aura that has been missing from NXT’s women’s division from the very beginning.
It is too early for Ember Moon to lose the NXT Women’s Championship? Yes and no. Moon is undoubtedly one of the top female performers on the brand, but she is yet to set the world alight on top. There may well be more mileage in the chase than in the reign. The mood that Baszler brings to the table might be dulled if she comes up short on Saturday night.
NXT’s women’s division is full of credible babyfaces, but short on quality heels. Moon, Sane, Candice LeRae and Nikki Cross are all fiery forces of good, giving Baszler plenty of competition as a heel champion. Wrestling doesn’t need to be complex. Put the belt on the new dominant heel, and let the good gals spend some time trying to overcome her.
