2. The Rock Saves Roman Reigns, Implores Fans To Cheer For Him
Roman Reigns won the 2015 Royal Rumble, but lost in a number of other ways. He lost all benefit of the doubt, as fans will look for him to be THE MAN, a lot sooner than he probably should have. WWE is all in with the Samoan Star, but seemed to realize they needed some help having fans accept him. Enter The Rock. Not only did he come to Roman Reigns rescue DURING THE ROYAL RUMBLE, he basically cut his post match promo for him, and raised Reigns arm in victory to an arena full of booing fans. If this type of help is needed, it probably wasnt a great idea to throw Reigns in that position. Historically, top faces dont need saving. In Mid-South wrestling, Bill Watts NEVER allowed anyone to save JYD from his beatings. No one had to run out and save Daniel Bryan or Stone Cold Steve Austin from bad guys. This is perhaps the most blatant example of trying to transfer support from a legend to a newcomer in wrestling history. Most times it comes within a match, but here it happened while Reigns was being asked to do simple things like cut a promo or fight. Even The Rock couldnt stop the backlash.
