9 Things WWE Must Do To Bring Back Causal Wrestling Fans

4. A Relatable Star To Support

Finding a wrestler that can relate to the crowd is fairly easy, it's whether or not they can get over with them that's the tricky part. Potential faces come ad go, but when it comes to the person on top, you want to ensure that it's a person the crowd can really get behind. Throughout the 80's, Hulk Hogan was the biggest star that the then-WWF had ever seen. Their massive success and rise to mainstream pop culture is pretty much down to Hogan. He reflected the audience that WWE were drawing in, a squeaky-clean all-American hero which millions of people could look up to. Say your prayers and all that... Shifting towards the Attitude era, Austin was perfect for that time period, because he represented the target audience; young male adults who didn't care for authority. Even John Cena was the perfect top star when he first began to climb the card, because he was relatable to the younger audience of the ruthless aggression era. Seriously, check out the pops he was getting in 04 and 05. In the last few years, Daniel Bryan was seemingly the perfect choice to become a massive star with big drawing power. The momentum he gathered throughout the YES Movement was incredible The company (reluctantly) gave him that special WrestleMania moment and the rest is history. He represented what it was like to be a true underdog, and he played the role perfectly, opposing WWE's hand-picked projects like Batista and Roman Reigns. At the current moment, WWE are still hell-bent on making Reigns the next face of the company, but the character they're trying to present him as just doesn't work. He's not connecting, because nobody is willing believe that this man is the underdog. His stature and size suggests the opposite, and then there's his amazingly high win percentage. I like Roman Reigns. I think he can be a big star for the company, if they gave him the chance of to portray a destructive machine or a cocky heel. I mean, look at how The Rock and Stone Cold started out - both were heels who were forced to turn face because of their popularity and how well they connected with the audience. WWE desperately needs a star that can relate to their target audience, and that is not Superman Roman Reigns.
