9 Things You Didn't Know About WWE Backlash

2. Mick Foley Was Scheduled To Do Something 'Big' At 2007 Event

2007 was the last year that Mick Foley could actually wrestle something close to a proper, competitive match for WWE. He had many matches for TNA in 2009, but by the time he returned to the 'E in 2011, his body was shot and he could no longer perform between the ropes.

Mrs. Foley's Baby Boy didn't appear at Backlash 2007, but word going around in the dirtsheets at the time (I know, I know) was that the plan was for Foley to do something 'big' on the show. What that something big was, we have no idea, but Foley did return to the ring for his last 'proper' WWE match at the Vengeance pay-per-view just a couple of months later (he lost a five-man WWE Title match against John Cena, Bobby Lashley, Booker T and Randy Orton).

One scenario that I distinctly remember certain websites naming was Foley taking on Johnny Nitro, which would have made sense given that Nitro's girlfriend/manager Melina had turned on the former Mankind in the summer of 2006 after being linked with him onscreen during the Hardcore Legend's dispute with Ric Flair.
