It was a statement fight for Lawlor, who was also moving up in weight to light heavyweight after spending most of his career at middleweight, and after being denied the option to use a walkout song associated with one CM Punk, a fellow UFC fighter. Still, who knows where Filthy will be in a year. During his time away from the cage he actually worked with Ring of Honor and came very close to signing a contract with the respected indy promotion. Lawlor actually wrestled for a couple of years prior to his MMA career, so he's a prime candidate for the likes of the WWE, and something of a character. Plus, while he's not exactly a World Champion like Ken Shamrock or Brock Lesnar, he has enough of a reputation in the MMA world to garner at least some crossover interest.
