9 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (30 Mar)

1. Slap, Crackle & Pop

Andrade El Idolo Darby Allin
AEW

A hoot of a main event played out between Andrade El Idolo and Darby Allin, whose excellent in-ring chemistry yielded a great, chaotic match unhampered by its many interferences.

This version of Andrade hits like a truck. Jacked up and full of thunder, the former La Sombra has evolved into a different beast in AEW - one that makes him a great foil for Darby. An industry-standard bumper and seller, Allin makes even meagre blows look like death. Put him in there with a certified bomb-dropper like Andrade and magic invariably happens.

Andrade started at 100mph, hitting a Tornillo while his opponent was still skating to the ring. A prolonged beatdown played out at ringside, highlighted by El Idolo powerhousing Allin over the barricade and onto the ring steps, before the bell finally rang.

Eating dirt throughout the opening periods, Darby fired up, getting himself into an unadvised slap-fight with the much larger man. A thrilling, breathless exchange ended in both men being flattened. When the interferences came, they were handled well, with Sting and Darby largely neutralising The Butcher and The Blade and Jose the Assistant before Andrade got the W, hitting El Idolo after a frankly ridiculous one-armed powerbomb off the floor and into the corner.

When Private Party emerged to join the post-match beatdown, Matt and Jeff Hardy made the save to a gigantic pop in the Carolinas. A lovely way to end the night.
