2. The Downside To That Women’s Promo Skit

It's for the best to get these negatives over as quickly as possible, because it's hardly like they're show-crippling 'Downs' that suggest SmackDown's product needs major surgery. However, it did stick out that Bayley and Naomi feel paper-thin as bestie babyfaces who both want a shot at Nia Jax and the Women's Title.

Bayley is particularly bothersome.

She needs to move the hell away from the old laughing gimmick that's creeping back into her act. It made her an intolerable heel, which was the point, but it won't work for a minute as a babyface. There's a sense that Bayley is only doing this because she's unsure how to act as a strong, impassioned hero who's right when Nia is wrong.

Naomi is following suit by being all smiles and high-fives even though she and her friend are going for the same thing. Can we have some realism here, please? This was a jarring, almost one note contrast to some of the stories found elsewhere on SmackDown.

At least there was an upside. Stay tuned for that.
