9 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (13 Sept - Results & Review)
1. Well, Something Had To Follow The Cage!
Michin beating Piper Niven in around two minutes wasn't horribly worked by any means, but the story behind it (Piper and Chelsea Green mocking Michin for losing to Nia Jax via trash can squash) feels very lacklustre. Of course, there's time for that to change. Will it? Your guess is as good as anyone else's.
Card placement might give the game away there.
Following the hot cage match opener with something short was probably smart, but Michin just doesn't seem to be connecting with fans without a more popular star like Bayley in her corner to compensate. One promo pre-Jax loss wasn't enough, WWE - you need to do more to flesh Mia Yim out as a character or nothing will change.
In fairness, the company is trying with Michin. They've dabbled with Chelsea and Piper too, but they're stuck in an endless cycle of background mini-feuds that never seem to payoff or really go anywhere satisfying. Again, like with Mia, more is needed or they'll keep spinning wheels.
