"Ricky" did kinda look like someone Tony Khan would draft in from the independents and hype up as must see, to be fair. On SmackDown, he was mere setup for Randy Orton.

Everyone knew it'd be Orton or Sami Zayn when the mystery partner thing was announced, but it was fun of Triple H to tease that KO might team with some scrub who couldn't even be bothered to shave his back for the occasion. Michael Cole called him the son of George 'The Animal' Steele. How fitting.

A production staffer saved the day by calling Owens across and informing him that Randy had made it to the building after all. So, Kev hit a quick stunner on Rick and dumped him. Fans popped for all of this, and everyone was in on the gag. They knew KO and Ricky vs. A-Town Down Under was a teaser for R-KO.
