9 Ups & 3 Downs For AEW Collision (22 July)

Downs...

3. What Would've Been The Main Event?

Having AEW Collision's main event be booked due to the promos of the episode's opening segment, felt very much a WWE move. And no, not in a good way.

While it's become a running joke how much poor Excalibur will have to run through when announcing the line-ups for upcoming episodes of Dynamite, Rampage, PPVs, and Battle of the Belts, AEW should be credited for how its shows are booked in advance and for how the company informs its audience of what to expect from future programming.

On this latest Collision offering, what would've been the main event if Christian Cage and Darby Allin hadn't made their way to the ring in the show's early moments?

Setting up a main event purely because Wrestler B interrupted a promo from Wrestler A, who are then interrupted by Wrestler C, which is then gate-crashed by Wrestler D? That's a dumb WWE mechanic which does nothing but make the authority figures of the show look like clueless jabronis who bafflingly forget to put together a main event for that event.
