9 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jun 9)

5. Another One Bites The Dust

Having Michael Elgin, Sami Callihan, and Ken Shamrock open this week's Impact was undoubtedly one of the greatest matchmaking decisions made by Impact management as of late. The three tore the house down right off the bat, setting the precedent for what was a monumental evening.

Elgin and Shamrock didn't even wait for 'The Draw' to make his entrance, with Sami turning the lights off and mysteriously appearing in the ring as his two adversaries were brawling amongst themselves. Quite surprisingly, Sami and Ken worked together throughout the contest, putting their own personal differences aside to take down the biggest threat, something that allowed for a much different match. 'The World's Most Dangerous Man', who is currently 56-years-old remember, even busted out a suicide dive that didn't look half bad.

An Elgin Bomb to Shamrock, who had just been shoved back-first into an exposed turnbuckle, gave 'Big Mike' the much-needed victory, yet again over a former World Champion. While Sami could have also done with a tick in the win column, given his first round loss in the tournament, Elgin coming out on top ensured his participation in the Slammiversary main event rather than Callihan was logical.

An enthralling contest to kick off a weekly show. If only every company was like this.
