9 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SummerSlam 2024 (Results & Review)
2. Going ‘Bloodline Rules’ Worked Out
Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa had some job on its hands following that sensational Priest vs. GUNTHER clash. Few (if anyone) believed Solo had a realistic chance of taking the WWE Title from Cody heading into SummerSlam, but Sikoa matched Rhodes every step of the way and certainly didn't look out of his depth in such a lofty spot.
There was a broader reason for adding in that 'Bloodline Rules' stipulation on SmackDown, but the actual match always needed some extra juice. Run-ins from Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton woke the live crowd up, then Jacob Fatu made an impact. Fingers crossed he didn't get legit injured on that table bump, by the way.
An injury is the last thing Fatu needs, especially when the Bloodline storyline is about to heat up all over again.
There was always a concern that people would sit on their hands during Cody vs. Solo because Roman Reigns returning was inevitable, but they didn't - not really. In fact, approx 15 minutes in, fans got right into what Rhodes and Sikoa were doing. 'Bloodline Rules' and all the chaos that comes with it helped.
