9 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown

Ups...

9. This MIGHT Work

Shinsuke Nakamura Sami Zayn

WWE's most underutilised wrestler, Sami Zayn, may have been relegated to a full-on managerial role last night. We'll address this potentially massive Down pending further clarification, though there's a chance his new union with Shinsuke Nakamura might work.

Zayn introduced his new ally while guesting on MizTV. After a typical promo railing against "the WWE trap of greed and ambition," he claimed that there were loads of people in the company who need his help. 'The King Of Strong Style' was apparently one of them, and out he came, prompting Miz to prod and pry. This ended predictably poorly for him. Downing 'The A-Lister' from behind, Nakamura laid into him with the Intercontinental Title, kicks, knees, and finally, the Kinshasa, seemingly setting up his next opponent.

It has been clear for the longest time that Nakamura needs a mouthpiece in this environment and Sami is one of the company's best talkers, making this a sensible union. Let's see where it goes before going deep on the underlying concerns.
