9 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Against All Odds 2021

1. Where's The Intensity?

On paper, opening Against All Odds with Sami Callihan, Tommy Dreamer, and the Good Brothers’ Street Fight was logical. We knew it was ending with Kenny Omega and Moose, so eliminating the potential of Good Brothers interference immediately made sense. In thought, at least.

The match wasn’t bad. It had a few decent moments, most notably Dreamer crashing through a table via Magic Killer. That was a class bump from Tom, but it should have ended the match. Sami Callihan breaking up the pin, hitting Karl Anderson in the jaw with a baseball bat, and the match simply ending there was a disappointment.

At no point did this feel like it was attached to the World Championship story. The four lads treated it like a comedy match at times; Dreamer rang the ring bell against Anderson’s !*$% and balls for f*ck sake. That in no way screams intensity.

While far from the worst match of the night, there were numerous, simple ways to fix the mistakes made here. It didn’t help that Callihan and Dreamer have built a reputation for being killer in these sorts of matches before. This felt more like a British wrestling holiday camp brawl.
