9 Ups And 11 Downs From WrestleMania 32
6. An Impactful Debut
With only a couple unannounced spots for the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, the chances that WWE could make a splash seemed miniscule. And then, the company went and brought out Shaquille ONeal. Sadly, this was years after his turn as a guest host and a showdown with Big Show, so the moment really had passed. Still, it was fun to see the basketball legend.
But the big WWE debut that took place Sunday night was NXT star Baron Corbin, fresh off a decent match against Austin Aries at TakeOver: Dallas Friday night. Corbin managed to last until the end, trading Social Outcast eliminations with Kane before ultimately dumping the Big Red Monster to win the battle royal in his first official WWE match.
Theres no word on whether this means Corbin is moving up to the main roster fulltime, but it was good to see someone new win the battle royal, and hopefully it will be used to help springboard his WWE career a little, rather than simply being a feather in a wrestlers cap. Corbin might not be the next big thing, but he deserves a legit shot to prove himself, and any advantages like this can only help him succeed.
