9 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Feb 17)
1. Filling Space
While it might be a big deal or an honor or whatever for Ricochet to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at Super Showdown, it’s pretty easy to say he might be one of the most overlooked challengers we’ve seen in recent years.
Everyone is already looking beyond this February PPV to WrestleMania 36 and Brock versus Drew McIntyre. The Royal Rumble winner is talking about it; Lesnar’s advocate is talking about it; the announcers are talking about it. Yes, they all will occasionally couch it slightly that Ricochet could emerge from Saudi Arabia with the world title, but everything is predicated on Brock/Drew.
That makes Ricochet and his title shot superfluous to the narrative, a foregone conclusion of epic proportions. So listening to him telling The OC that he can win almost makes you laugh the same way they trio was rolling. It’s borderline comical. The question is whether Ricochet mounts any sustained offense, or if Lesnar just mauls him after a couple hope spots.
And this is coming from someone who loves Ricochet.
