Bret Hart had good reasons to take issue with Shawn Michaels - the 'Heartbreak Kid' stealing his spot in One Night Only's main event being one of them - but there are better ways to get even.
He could have fulfilled his contractual obligations at Survivor Series and then headed off for the greener pastures of WCW, helping his new employers dethrone Vince McMahon and his leading diva from wrestling's top spot.
Instead, he refused to put his beef to one side, and went into his final match determined to walk out of WWE with their biggest prize around his waist.
Whether Vince could have picked a different opponent is up for debate, but the fact remains: Bret let personal pride get in the way of his duty to the profession.
